Southeast Airlines Announces Expansion of Service
Gary, Ind. (March 4, 2004) - Beginning May 11, Southeast Airlines will add six weekly flights to Orlando (Sanford Airport) and two more weekly flights to St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Fla., for a total of six. The additional flights are a direct result of strong passenger traffic on the first few flights and increased demand for new service from the Gary/Chicago International Airport (www.garychicagoairport.com).
"In less than six weeks from initially announcing service to this market, Southeast Airlines has added another destination city and tripled its frequencies to Florida from Gary/Chicago," says Paul Karas, airport administrator. "Clearly we're seeing a strong consumer demand for a convenient, hassle-free travel alternative to Florida."
Flights will be offered everyday except on Tuesday. Currently, Southeast Airlines offers flights to St. Petersburg/Clearwater as low as $69* (excluding taxes and airport fees) each way.
"Southeast Airlines normally experiences a strong response to our low fares and the convenience of our non-stop service from hassle-free airports such as Gary/Chicago," says Scott Bacon, vice president of planning, Southeast Airlines. "e already have several full flights from Gary/Chicago that are sold out and anticipate very full flights for the remainder of our schedule."
Gary/Chicago is the new "Shortcut to Florida," located just 25 miles and 35 minutes from downtown Chicago. With low fares on Southeast Airlines and free parking at Gary/Chicago, the trip is the least expensive in the Chicago market.
"Gary/Chicago is the fastest growing airport in Indiana and Illinois thanks to the 12 weekly Southeast Airlines flights to Florida," says Karas.
